A question we get from our clients on a regular basis is how to style joggers and what dress codes they’re good for. A client recently asked the same question during her Closet Facelift, so we styled them for her with things she already owned, and now you get to learn as a result! Keep reading as we give four different examples of how to style joggers from casual to business casual.
As a bonus, we’re also sharing how to choose shoes and even including a few of our favorites! Just click the pictures to buy for yourself.
Outfit #1: Business Casual
If your joggers are a nicer cotton material, they could be styled for a business casual dress code! You want to be mindful of fabric content or any distressing that might cause them to lean too casually, just like you would with any pant. Our favorite way to style joggers for work is with a sweater or blouse. Give your top a front tuck for a tailored look that flatters your waistline, or do a full tuck if you plan to style with a jacket or blazer!
Choosing a pointed toe shoe elongates the leg and keeps the overall fit from looking too baggy. We’ve styled it with pumps here, but a flat or loafer would be a great option as well! Most of the time you want joggers to hit just above the ankle bone for the most flattering fit so you can either have them tailored, or do a quick cuff if they start off a little long.

Outfit #2: On the Go
If you’re like us and you’re always on the hunt for cute clothes to travel in, joggers are a strong option! Fully tucking in a tank under a fun statement jacket keeps things comfortable for a long flight or car ride, while also emphasizing the waist and having a more put together look than sweatpants. We’ve styled booties here for a cold weather friendly look, but you could also swap in a cute sneaker for another easy travel option.
Something to note: This tank could be swapped out with any fitted top! A graphic tee, turtleneck, etc.

Outfit #3: Casual Comfort
Think game night, running for errands, chasing toddlers around the house - that’s what this dress code calls for!
We’re big believers in going one notch above. Typically wear gym shorts and a hoodie to grab groceries? Try dressing one notch above and see how it feels! For this look we styled one of our client’s cute graphic sweatshirts and sneakers for a look that’s heavy on the comfortable AND cute!

Outfit #4: Weekend Wear
We only swapped one piece from outfit 2 and 4 to show you how learning to mix and match well can give you (nearly) endless outfit combinations! We styled the same basic pieces of joggers, a fitted top, and booties but switched out the corduroy jacket for a plaid shacket. When you learn the principles of what fits work well together, you’ll find it easy to swap items around in your closet.
